Description
NOW INCLUDING GIG BAG Now in a 10″ speaker version, and only 20 lbs! Do you want to have an amplifier the size of a toaster that gives you the quality of tone for BOTH electric and acoustic instruments that you’d expect from a studio situation with enough volume to cover almost any gig? Of course you do. That’s why if you play guitar, or any stringed instrument with a pickup for that matter, you need a Bud TEN. The Bud TEN has every feature you need and more than enough volume to get your bandmates or club manager to ask you to turn down, and coupled with the extension cabinet you can keep up with the heaviest-handed drummer with no problem. The amp and cabinet are naturally feedback resistant which limits the need for artificial notch filtering and other suppression technologies that negatively effect your tone.
But it’s not all about size and volume, there are lots of tiny, loud amplifiers on the market. You’ve tried them. You know what they sound like. The Bud TEN is different. Henriksen Amplifiers is all about tone first, the incredibly portable size and feature set of The Bud were developed around the sound, not the other way around and you can definitely hear the difference. Our pre-amp, from input to output, is designed using the highest grade audio components. We offer a 5-band EQ with carefully chosen center frequencies which were fine-tuned by ear to meet the demands of different playing environments using the widest possible array of musical instruments. We give you two identical pre-amps, each with independent EQ and reverb and actual 48 volt phantom power, and an auxiliary input on each channel so that whatever you are using it for can be EQ’d separately from your instrument signal.

Been with my new Bud 10 cabinet with Bud head for 1/2 hour. I am super impressed. I am no longer sad for selling my Fender Twin Reverb. I almost always play with clean tones and as my age has advanced, I could barely move the heavy Twin. The bud is louder than I was anticipating and crystal clear out of the box with everything at noon. With a couple adjustments I got this thing sounding superb with both my humbucker guitar and my acoustic. Have every confidence it is going to sound great with my single coil tele, nylon string and mandolins. I got the separate head in case I needed a louder amp and so I could keep the controls closer at hand. Got to say, this is loud enough for most rooms I play and if not it has an easy PA connection, but I still like having the controls near me. The reverb is good, but I still might add my reverb/delay pedals. I don’t think I need any compression as it kind if sounds like it is already compressing. Lastly, the build is rock solid, including the gig bags. So, I still need to test other instruments, try my pedals and I guess, try it with the tweeter off (why??). BUY THIS THING, or buy a 6 or Blu if budget is an issue.

I received my Bud Ten a few days ago. What a wonderful amp ! I only recently became aware of Henriksen amps (through Tim Lerch). So glad I did. Great tone. Wonderful reverb. Thanks so much !
Dan Bonow –
I play organ and rebuild small Leslies into Hi Fi monsters. Lightweight, clear, deep, lots of headroom and could power two of my Leslies OR serve as a standalone combo amp OR be a P.A. monitor … These BUDS do it all !! I just bought a second (amp only) BUD head. Buy one, you will like it!
John Thornburg –
Wow, my Bud Six was just delivered today (Wed) and I only ordered it on Monday! Super-fast shipping! I am a long-time Henriksen customer and am very impressed with the customer service and friendly, helpful staff. Of course I love the products. I also have a JazzAmp 12R that is wonderful. These amps are Game-Changers! Thank you Peter!!!
Stephen France –
I recently purchased a Bud 10 combo and it is hands down the best amplifier for acoustic guitar. Totally transparent sound and no odd artifacts like I experienced with other high end acoustic amps. The sound of your guitar translates over perfectly. The EQ is voiced perfectly and it is so easy to dial in a great sound regardless of the venue. And a mighty big sound out of such a small footprint! Can’t recommend this amp enough!

If you are reading this, you likely know what you are looking for in an amp of this kind. If that is you, stop reading, get the credit card out, and buy it. You will love the Bud 10.
If you’re not sure what you’re looking for yet, read on.
The Bud 10 is hands down the best amp for jazz guitar I’ve ever played. Like butta’. With a Peerless Martin Taylor Maestro, the sound is crystal clear, bass response is strong but not boomy, 5-band EQ is linear and effective. The Bud 10 is very responsive to touch. I have so much control over volume and tone just through my fingers. I use it for solo, duo, and group work and it excels in ever setting.
The bullet list:
– Sounds GREAT
– Clean, clean, clean and transparent across the spectrum – including strong clear bass
– Easy to get a good sounds – set 5-band EQ to flat then adjust to taste
– Great reverb
– Loud enough for small to medium rooms without micing
– Lightweight and looks great
– Great practice amp – Headphone out and Wireless in
I haven’t yet worked in a duo setting with the vocalist going through the Bud 10 along with guitar. However, working singers and guitarists I know have stopped bringing a PA to most rooms in favor of the Bud 10, sometimes with an extension cabinet.
I’m also looking forward to running my Kenny Hill nylon string with Fishman electronics and micing my Ramirez 1A through the Bud 10. I understand that Mr. Hill uses Henriksen amps to demo his guitars at NAMM.
The Bud 10 is a work of art and excellent engineering. Thank you to Peter Henriksen and the Henriksen team.
Bill Cook JR –
The Bud TEN is a high quality amplifier. It has a sharp look and is well finished.
It’s a quite cube-like 20 LB. The handle is large, though, making the amplifier easy to get ahold of.
First I linked the amplifier to my phone—Blue Tooth works well—and played art tracks for a couple friends. One got in on the fun and queued up a bass-heavy song. The amplifier doesn’t throw as far as I thought it would, at least not at middle volume settings. But the bass response is there, and the frequency spread is excellent—a very hi-fi sound.
Next I played a modern classical guitar through the amplifier. The EQ is excellent. It lets you cut honky frequency bands and add brightness and intelligibility. Added bass speaks convincingly, though not to throbbing club levels.
The reverb is plate (to my ear), and it likes to be dialed high.
I set volume at 12 o’clock and added gain to achieve a listening level. This may be a boneheaded way to do it. Anyway, it never barked or farted.
I found the Bud TEN to be tonally boxy, like other closed-back amplifiers. I’ve owned a Fender powered monitor and a Fender Acoustasonic 150, and the Bud TEN handily outclasses them. I also own a Bose L1 Model1, and I’ve played through an AER 60. The Bud TEN has grab-and-go over the Bose, and the Bud TEN has broader applicability over the AER.
I wasn’t sure how playing through the Bud TEN would affect the feel of my guitar playing. The effect was favorable, perhaps partly due to natural compression? Hearing more clearly allowed me to even out my tone, requiring less of my hand. So my playing became balanced and expressive. No one give away my secret . . .
I opted not to buy the gig bag and will instead buy a Tuki foam slip cover ($95).

It’s perfect.
I almost never say this about anything on life. I’m so blown away.
I’m the kind of person who likes to try out lots of stuff and can always find fault in everything.
It’s like a PA amp that can do anything, is LOUD, is LIGHT.
I plan on using this as my main amp for everything.
I’ve had many amps since I was 13 and this amp is the best.
Better than a fender, better than polytone, better than my QSC k10, better than a Gallen Kruger MB112, better than a Mesa Mark V half stack, and etc.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 13 and you commonly hear that you need a tube amp for that authentic guitar sound.
No you don’t, you need this amp or the bud six. It’s more practical for real gigs and you can expand it however you need to with the ports on the back.
For your reference I play gypsy/jazz guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, upright, and do vocals.
Pros.
-sounds great for gypsy guitar with a big tone pickup
-great with the peche a la moche magnetic pickup
-great for electric guitar
-great for any kind of bass
-great for vocals
-can plug into a House PA (XLR line out!!!)
-can plug into a 8 ohm guitar cab
-headphone jack for silent practicing
-LIGHT
-LOUD
-can act as a PA speaker for a band w/ a mixer
Cons
-If you need distortion then just buy something like the Humbolt Simplifier deluxe which can emulate classic guitar amps.
-Wait time because these amps are so in demand. I see why now. (Peter was awesome about updating me though)
I will never need another amp unless this one needs repairs or Peter comes out with a better version.
*Shout out to Denis Chang for making that YouTube video about this amp.

I have to update my last review. I told you I bought a pedal amp to experiment and was only going to use it as a backup to my Bud 10. Changed my mind! The new pedal amp is going up for sale. I just can’t enjoy its sounds at all next to my Bud 10. So the pedal amp is going up for sale. The Bud 10 is far superior to anything I have heard anywhere. 🙂
Michael Cregan –
I have had the Bud ten for a few years now,and play mostly archtop guitars, I own perhaps 14 different electric carved tops..I am delighted with these amplifiers..I use a hendiksen 10″ extention cabnet as well and set the eq for midrange…fantastic sound, reliable, light weight, tunable, etc etc…would never be without one
Keith Young –
I likes the Bud 6 so much I also bought the Bud 10 for a little fuller acoustic sound. Both great amps especially for their size and weight, quite versatile and extremely reliable too!
Stephen Luciano –
I love my Bud 10. On jazz gigs I use a Benedetto Bravo and it’s matched perfectly. I’ve received many compliments on the sound. When I do shows I love that it has a balanced out, and the sound guys loves that too. Most shows I run a fender strat with effects through channel one, and a clean acoustic through channel two. The fact that I can get two separate EQ’s for this situation is awesome. When I play solo gigs I occasionally play with tracks. The fact that I can play them through my phone using the Wireless switch on this amp makes that easy. This is a great amp and I’m so glad I have one.
Michael Wilson –
Wonderful amp, great sound. It has eliminated the feedback I was getting with my JohnnySmith. The light weight is a plus too!
Walter Scott Mohn –
I have had this great amp for years now. It is clearly the best amp I have ever had. The sound is perfect for my Jazz guitars, and my other guitars too. The support from Henriksen is great too.
I actually got a new pedal amp a short time ago with five different amps models that are often used for Jazz guitars. Not one of the five sounded as good as my Henriksen 10. I almost sent the pedal amp back. But I hate to do that. So I kept it as my only backup amp to my Henriksen. I have not had to use the backup amp once.
I also sing and run the vocal sounds through my Henriksen. And, and on jobs where people want to dance, I run midi orchestra sounds and my vocals both through the Aux-In.
I also learned that the Henriksen proprietary cable really improves the strength of the signal and the sharpness of the guitar sounds I send to the amp. I use a few light guitar effects and the amp’s effects loop never misses a step.
Now I have to add that I am in my 81st year and the light weight of these great amps astound me. I can carry them myself. I was so happy about that that I bought a Henricksen 12″ cab and also one of the really light Ray cabs. They both work great with the amp and provide versatility for me when I play venues of different sizes.
I am sure you guessed I highly recommend Henriksen products to everyone who is interested. I have another professional friend in New Jersey who plays Irish music and loves his Henriksen Jazz Amp as much as I do. You will love Henriksen products too!!
Jim Cadorette –
I got my BUD-10 this year and I can’t believe how much I love this amp! All of my guitars and mando sound big and fat with a nice little chime in the background. This amp screams Jazz. The bass is phenomenal too. I was initially interested in the BUD-6 but read a review saying the 10’s bass was so much nicer/ bigger sound and so glad I paid the extra for the 10. As another reviewer mentioned, the ability to connect via Wireless to other music sources is a real plus and sooo much fun to use. I’ve got my 10 connected to my lap top, iPhone and iPad. Great to play along with iTunes, etc or with YouTube tutorials. I found the Henriksen folks to be super friendly and responsive. I consider this amp to be one of my favorite equipment purchases.
Dan Sieckman –
Henriksen amps are fantastic. I own a Bud 6, a Bud 10, and a Henriksen 12. The 6 is great for rehearsals and small home parties, the 12 is fantastic for larger gigs…. but my favorite is the Bud 10, portable and powerful enough for restaurant venues and larger home parties. The sound on all of these is easy to dial in to get just the right mix. Perfect for Jazz. Solidly built. Sonically superb!
Harry Fager –
Outstanding amp! Have used it with my McGill Super Ace Nylon String as well as my Collings i35 LC guitars, vocals and saxophone.
My wife and I perform to tracks. When we don’t have time or space to set up our complete sound system for a gig, the Blue Tooth capability of the Bud 10 really makes it a winner for us. Guitar and BT tracks thru Ch. 1 and Vocals through Ch. 2….. and the sound quality is always excellent.
Of course, the cherry on top is the weight of the amp….. no more tube laden behemoths for me!
Paul Hanson –
I love my Bud 10 for many reasons, and here are just a few:
1. The clarity of my guitar(s) come through flawlessly, and my ability to shape the sound using the effects loops is fantastic.
2. Getting the right sound is easy.
3. The portability is perfect.
I have a number of heavy, tube combos I’m looking to sell as a consequence of my purchase of the Bud 10,
Steve Wiessler –
Great amp. I had not purchased an amp since my 1959 Fender Deluxe in 1980. It is still a great amp, but with limitations.
I have had my Bud 10 almost one year. It provides great tonal versatility without requiring any additional equipment. I am
still finding new settings that provide subtle changes as my mood desires. It gives my Archtops warmth and clarity. I can’t
think of any thing I would change on it! The more I play it, the more I love it!
Pat O’Brien –
I bought my Bud 10 last year. I played my Taylor 522, Rainsong CHOM, and older, 2005, Ovation Standard Elite through the Bud 10 and was delighted with the tone and reverb. The equalizer and gain controls allow you to easily fine tune your tone and compensate for different input levels from instruments or microphones. I liked it so much that I just purchased a Bud 6. I keep the Bud 6 in the living room, and when I practice the settings translate exactly to my Bud 10. These amps are easy to use and well made in Colorado. The gig bags are well made with a roomy pocket for cables. I have owned many amps over the years. They were heavy and complicated to use. I am an intermediate guitar player and want to concentrate on improving my playing not constantly adjusting and fiddling with amps.
Jim Stahlhut –
Great amp!

This is a follow-up of my review of December 5, 2019. After months of using an amp modeler on many of my songs, I have gone back to running my guitar, clean into the Bud Ten. I play mostly Jazz and Classic Country. I have concluded that the sound of the Bud 10 is much better than that of any of the amp models I was using on selected songs. For the styles of music I play, nothing seems to match the clarity and timbre of my Bud Ten. I use the Bud Ten with a 12″ Henriksen Extension Cabinet and the sound is great for all the venues where I perform I would still like to have the Aux In so it does not override a channel. But, other than that, I think the Bud Ten has proven itself to be perfect for my uses. I will start my 80th year this month and, thanks to the Bud Ten, I can still move everything myself. The cost was a stretch for me, but I am so glad I made it!
Roberto Márquez –
I am a Henriksen user from many years, so that is telling my opinion about them. The Bud ten is a wonderful amp, ideal for jazz or clean sounds. Great power, very light and, for my gigs, to have two separate channels is ideal to have my guitar in one and the loop station in the other. Looking for some kind of “complain”, I’d say the power is a bit “hidden” in the back panel.
John Mahoney –
The Bud 10 is amazing! Gone are the days when my hand cramps up from carrying my amplifier. I play both archtop and nylon string with a Barbera bridge pickup. They both sound great through the Bud 10 and my nylon string benefits from being run through an LLBaggs preamplifier. I love the 2 channels and their flexibility and versatility. This is the first set up that can admirably handle both guitar and vocals (with phantom power – YAY!) for up to a medium-size venue.
I should mention that I really put demands on the Bud 10, so I have added a 12 inch extension cabinet. This enables me to put my electic piano through the rig as well. The larger speaker cabinet also rounds out the sound of my 7 string archtop and my classical baritone guitar (clearly, I use way too much gear).
This set-up with either the Bud 10 alone or with the 12 inch extension cabinet makes it incredibly convenient to gig. Great sounding gear. I highly recommend Henriksen! Happy playing.
Jonathan Palevsky –
I am obliged to echo the positive sentiments of my colleagues. I hate writing reviews as it feels like homework. (Never liked that much) I first became acquainted with Henriksen through Steve Herberman. His amp sounded great and weighed next to nothing. Then a friend of mine loaned me his Bud 6 and I fell in love with it. He hasn’t asked for it back and I hope he never does! (Not really) When my fabulous tube amp broke, I was too impatient to get it fixed and decided to buy the Bud 10. It’s an amazing piece of technology that I am proud to own. People are astounded at the quality and quantity of sound produced by something so tiny. I mostly play guitars made by Ted Stevenson in Montreal and I have a Comins arch top as well. All sound fantastic with both the 10 and the six.
Walter Scott Mohn –
I love my Bud Ten. I think I was one of the first buyers. It is just a little bigger than the Bud I previously used, but it delivers a lot more sound. I am an old guy and carry all my gear so I also love the fact that the Ten is only slightly heavier than the Bud. That makes it easy for me to carry. Together with the Henriksen Cabinet I bought almost two years ago, it is a light-weight way to produce the mellow sounds I love and still fill a large venue.
I love that it has two channels, separate reverb on each channel, separate (and very effective) EQ on each channel, separate effects loops for each channel, an Aux In, and Wireless connectivity. It gives me a lot of options besides running two instruments or one instrument and a mic into the amp. I can run a sound module that also has my primary mic signal into one channel and my guitar into the other. Or, as I am doing most often now, I run the sound module+mic Out into an amazing small Moorer effects pedal and send that into the effects loop for the Bud channel that hosts my guitar. Then I plug a second mic into the other channel. Of course, I have modified.the Moorer pedal effects so I have about 100 different mellow effects. And I have a separate channel on the Mooer pedal that has just the clean signal from my Bud Ten – this is the channel I use most often.
The Aux In overrides a channel. But the Wireless does not. So if you want to use Wireless sounds you still have two channels for voice and instrument.
All of this is wonderful, but the best thing remains the tremendous sound quality my Gibson guitar gets through the Ben Ten. But, since I am primarily a singer, I am very happy with the overall sound quality. The bottom line is that this is a great small amp that will certainly surprise many users with its power and clarity. I found it well worth the money. Made in the USA! Buy one!
Trevor Hanson –
This is another fantastic Henriksen product. I had been asking for a version of the Bud with a ten inch speaker for ages, so I was one of the first to place an order. It was exactly what I hoped for. I play mostly 7-string, both steel and nylon, so the extra depth and clarity was wonderful. This is not a complaint about the Bud 6 by the way. I have one of those too and it also has great depth and balance. But the 10 gives me a little more “stuffing” when playing a big room. I often use the two amps together, for wide dispersion and to control the low/high balance in a noisy room. I can’t say enough good about the Bud 10. (I sometimes use it with the Ray extension cabinet as well; though I generally choose the Bud 6 instead, to give me active balance control.)
The Bud 10 has the great two-channel configuration of the original Bud, with Wireless audio as well, so it is highly versatile. I often use a mic on the second channel, essentially as a micro-PA. I rarely bring a “real” PA to gigs anymore. The Bud 10 (or Bud 6) gives me what I need. I will sometimes use a small mixer board as input to the Bud, to control multiple mics/instruments. Again, the Bud stands up with the clarity and volume I need. The preamps and EQ quality are right there. It’s really changed how I approach live sound.
Thanks, Henriksen, for such a good product line.
