About the JazzAmp 310

The JazzAmp 310 is the current stage of evolution of the very first JazzAmp which was designed by Bud Henriksen to be, simply, the perfect jazz guitar amplifier. Much has changed in the last decade; we have seriously increased the output power and added a much more feature rich layout. However, none of that tampers with the original tone recipe invented back on 2005. The JazzAmp 310 continues to amaze guitarists with its tone, power, portability and features and is a standard around the world for jazz guitar amplification.

Features and Specifications

The JazzAmp 310 features an Eminence Beta speaker and a defeat-able Eminence tweeter in a port tuned cabinet for an even, full range response to properly amplify everything from the lows of a fingerstyle bass line to the high presence demands of a manouche guitar. The Beta speaker gives you a warm, dark and mellow tone and the tweeter creates a high frequency dimension that sparkles and really brings out acoustic qualities of your guitar, and will add an acoustic quality to your solid body.

The feature set on the 310 includes an input gain control along with the 1/4″/XLR phantom powered combo jack to accommodate almost any pickup system. The 5-band EQ offers the ability to adjust the amplifier to the room without messing with the original tone of the instrument. There is also an extension speaker output, FX loop, tweeter defeat switch, balanced XLR line out and a headphone jack.

The best little loud good for all purposes amp around. at an equal volume i can barely hear the difference between my L-50 and the amp, and that’s saying a lot, cuz nothing sounds like that guitar! but the amp adds a beautiful ambient body!

Having come from a rock and blues background, I went into college as a jazz guitar major not knowing much about “my sound” or the right tone for me when playing jazz. I didn’t want to carry my big Fender tube amp, so I bought my way through 4 different amps ranging from solid state to hybrid to tubes and different wattages. Finally, I heard a friend playing on a Henriksen 110 (earlier model without reverb) through his Ibanez hollow body and it was mind-blowing! I HAD to know how he got that beautiful tone, so he talked me through the amp and how it functions. With my luck, he was selling his Henriksen to have enough money to buy a vintage Polytone for his large amp collection, so I bought it from him. That was 5 years ago and I’ve never looked back. I play an Epiphone Emperor II Joe Pass hollow body through my Henriksen and I have absolutely no desire to pair it with any other amp. The natural sound of the guitar shines through. Though I don’t play at many gigs, at every gig I do, the first comment I receive is that people love my tone and want to know more about the amp. It’s a part of “my sound”, I feel incredibly comfortable with the tones it provides, and I look forward to playing on that amp until the day it breaks.

My Henriksen JazzAmp 110 is great! A fat, warm sounding amp that works both as a single combo amp, or as a second amp in my stereo setup. Thanks for a fantastic, musical product.

    :

Recent owner of a JazzAmp 110. I’ve been very pleased with how great it makes all my guitars sound. Until now I’ve only used it at home and a couple practice sessions. Last night I put it to work with a jazz trio, guitar, sax and URB. I usually play a Heritage 575 with Fralin pickups. It sounded just terrific, no muss, no fuss, there was that warm jazz tone I’ve always heard in my head. The gig was a walk-in, wine tasting, networking affair and soon grew very loud. The 110 kept up and drew questions from other musicians especially our bass player. Thanks for a superb amplifier.

    :

Thank you so much for building and designing such a fine amp. I used it for the first time in a big band situation. When I played single note lines with the horn section, it blended in so well, I could actually be heard. I’ll be using it for other kinds of small groups as well as solo. It sounds great with built in as well as floating pickups. Thank you.

    :

Love the amp, thanks for the quick delivery too. Out of the box took it straight to the gig and really enjoyed it. Sounds like as clear as a bell. Every note is so clear it makes my articulation/attack sound way better. Can’t wait to record with it and hear it from that view point as well. I was reluctant to give up my last amp which has carried me for the last 12 years. I am confident that this one will enable me to go that much deeper during the next 12 years. Well done on a great product.

I have been using my Jazz Amp for 3 years now and I want another one! This amp has the best tone and I have played my archtops, Statocaster, and Martin acoustic through it on all kinds of gigs and all guitars come to life more than ever. Peter and the staff offer incredible consultation and he even sent me a new set of those blue top knobs when one of mine broke. I wear my Henriksen T-shirt with pride, but I play my JazzAmp with greater pride and confidence. I get lots of compliments on the beautiful tone all the time. This is definitely a straight ahead, no glitches, amplification system for the true purist. And, its versatility is just astonishing

Thanks for the JazzAmp 110-ER. Definitely the best solid state amp I’ve played. Also the amp is very portable and sounds great for everything from big band to trio gigs. Thanks again.

Dear Sirs, I have been using your amps for 3 years and couldn’t be happier. Reliability, ruggedness, great sound and great looks are one great combination. I have never had any problems with this amp, thank you.

    :

I am an engineer, not a famous musician. That being said, I am extremely picky about everything, including tone. This is the first solid state amplifier that I’ve been pleased with. Previously, I was a tube guy and never could force myself to like solid state amplifiers. Henriksen has changed my thinking. I couldn’t be happier with the tone I’m getting from this amp. Besides, the small price for admission is a lot cheaper than back surgery. I will no longer lug around a 60lb tube amp. The Henriksen sounds the same night after night, and I can depend on it. Tube amps are not that way. The dying art of customer service is alive at Henriksen. I’ve talked with Peter a couple of times and he’s been great. I will be purchaing more products from them in the future. I recommend this product highly, good luck.

I got my Jazz Amp a few weeks ago and wanted to work with it for a while before commenting on it. The amp is wonderful! All of my guitars, Eastman Uptown Archtop, Gibson ES-335, Martin D-18, Godin Nylon multiac and Fender strat sound great. I never use the eq, just the controls on my guitars. I have owned Mesa Boogie, Fender, Ampeg, Polytone and your amp sounds the purest to my ears. I run the amp through 2 cabinets with EV-12L classic speakers and the sound is truly beautiful.

    :

Lightweight, great sound, and versatility all rolled into one. I really appreciate the tonal control the amp has to offer in a variety of venues. Woofy bass notes always bother me, but with the Jazz Amp I can dial them out without affecting the high end. Acoustic guitars sound fantastic through it too… Makes you wonder why ALL amps don’t have eq knobs instead of tone controls!

Yesterday I recived your JazzAmp Combo 10-R and of course all the day and night I was looking for some weak points but I couldn’t find any. I have about 25 jazz archtops, from vintage Gibsons to mostly handmade guitars, and I played/recorded with the mic & direct via line out all of them in my home studio. I also done A/B comparation with my Polytones & Evans and some custom tube amps, and after all I have only one comment: Congratulations. Such a nice sound from this small box.

    :

I’ve been using the JazzAmp 10 for about 5-6 months and can honestly say that this is by far the best jazz amp I’ve ever heard. I’ve used many amps over the many years that I’ve been playing and this JazzAmp 10 is king. I’ve used it on gigs, recording and also radio shows, it never ceases to amaze me.

I Just purchased a 110 from Tempo Trend music in Victoria BC, and I couldnt be happier! It makes my Epiphone Emperor sound absolutley amazing! Last year I bought an 89′ MIJ strat on ebay and was very dissapointed with its tone when I pluged it into my fender frontman or my line 6 amp. I was considering getting rid of the guitar untill I played it through the Jazz Amp, I am totally blown away by how good it sounds now! I dont think I will ever need to get another amp, Thanks for making such an outstanding product.

    :

I just received my JazzAmp 110 here in the UK that you shipped to me a couple of weeks ago. Amazing – without even fiddling with any eq, I just plugged in and got the lovely fat sound from the top 2 strings that I’ve been looking for for a long time! This amp is excellent, thank you very much.

Choosing the right amp can be a nightmare for a guitarist. The factors that go into the decision process are innumerable! This is why I play Henriksen JazzAmps exclusively. In all my years of playing, I felt like I found the “Holy Grail” when I discovered Henriksen. My sound has never been better or more consistent. Henriksen cares about their product and their customers.

    :

I have owned my Jazzamp 10” combo now for about 8 months. The tone is amazing; dark, warm and woody. When I first got it, I was amazed at how every guitar I owned suddenly had their own unique tonal personality; with my tube amps they all sounded similar. Every now and then I will still take my Dr. Z Mazeratti head with Bogner Cabinet or Fender Blues Deluxe or Groove Tubes Soul-o 45 combo out of the closet just to make sure I am playing the right amp! And they all quickly go back into the closet. I use a TC Electronics Nova System in front of the amp for reverbs, delays, and sometimes compression and the amp is very effects friendly; maintains its clarity nicely. Thank you so much for an amazing amp at a reasonable price.

I am very happy with my 110 jazzamp. For me this is the perfect no fuss no muss amp. I set all the EQ knobs to zero and get a perfect balanced tone out of my L5. Crystal clear tone and dead silent electronics. I am amazed at what comes out of this light little amp. Thank you Henrikson for taking care of us jazz guitarists.

    :

It gives me joy of playing. If you like Polytone sound, you would like it. And Five band equalizer may have wider variations of tone, which I haven’t learned how to handle completely yet. Anyway, it doesn’t let me feel bored.

You don’t remember me, but we exchanged emails back in November of 2009 about my frustrating search for a small amp that could deliver a jazz sound at a light weight (not my JC-120!). So I took the flier and bought your Jazzamp 110 later that year. Wow, have I been satisfied! This is the greatest club combo amp I have ever played through and I even use it for bigger gigs requiring some volume–no problem. It just sings at volume, maintaining the integrity of sound (no breakup like Fenders, etc.) that you want for that fat jazz sound. I’m playing an Ibanez As-50 or As-200 (depending), through it and it sounds fabulous for that straight ahead sound.

    :

Easy to cart around with a sound that’s hard to duplicate, this jazz guitar amp is a winner. Its 10″ speaker is just right for seven-string guitar, and the JazzAmp has some impressive low end for a jazz guitar amplifier. The jazz guitar amp has a nice aesthetic style, too, but I’m especially happy with the 5-band graphic EQ that’s standard on every JazzAmp.

    :

Just used my new Jazzamp 110 on a gig last weekend. It brings amazing power and tone in a small package, and far surpasses any other self contained combo amp that I have ever played. Great work guys, and at a fair and reasonable price point as well. THANKS for developing this innovative product.

    :

I never thought I’d find such a portable jazz guitar amplifier with such a rich, warm sound. The JazzAmp gives my hollow body a nice, evocative tone that makes me feel like I’m listening to myself on a reel-to-reel tape recorder. Whether you play rhythm or lead, this is a nice little portable amp with some serious sound.

    :

It’s always easy to tell the good jazz guitar amps from the bad ones, and this is definitely a good one. Before even touching the EQ settings it has a good sound right out of the box.

    :

Having one of these jazz guitar amplifiers lets me improvise when it comes to performance space. It’s great for practicing by myself on an acoustic-electric, and it rings out well in a small combo. No matter what instrument you play it with, it has a smooth, clean tone.

    :

Picking the right jazz guitar amplifier can be tough for beginners who don’t know their own preferences yet. The JazzAmp is a fantastic amp right out of the box, and it’s EQ is a great introduction to shaping tone. It sounds good enough for professionals, but is simple enough for amateurs.

    :

I like to use this jazz guitar amplifier when I’m playing in more intimate venues. It’s got a nice, warm sound that goes well with a small combo. And it’s pretty portable, so it’s easy to take from place to place.

The statement “The JazzAmp 110 from Henriksen is every jazz guitar players dream” is not a lie.

As soon as I’ve played the first notes through my “JazzAmp 110”, I knew “THIS IS IT”.

This is the amp I was looking for. Weighs only 23 pounds and produces the purest and greatest jazz tone I’ve ever heard. I had almost forgotten how a real jazz guitar should sound, but thanks to the JazzAmp 110 it all came back to me.

    Thank you Bud Henriksen!

If I didn’t already know because of all your reviews, I would know now just from playing it: there are a large number of jazz guitarists around the world who are very fond indeed of you (and your dad?). I’ve been playing mainstream jazz for over twenty years – I have the finest archtops you can find ( a Vanguard and Model 17 from Steve Andersen) – and I’ve never found an amplified sound I’ve really liked until I plugged into your amp. I think the 10” speaker and cabinet constructio as well as the electronics plays a signficant role as I don’t like the sound quite as much when I put it through my (until now) peerless Redstone Audio RS12. People talk a lot about how warm and mellow your amps are, but this is misleading in a way because the top end has more clarity and projection than I was getting with my Acoustic Image Clarus series II plus RS12 cab (which is renowned for clarity). (I’ve also played Rivera Jazz Suprema, Acoustic Image plus Raezors Edge twin 8, and Polytone). The sound is at once more punchy AND smoother: the melody notes are chewy and the bass notes are strong and tight – yum. I have never felt so relaxed playing the instrument with an amp – it never bites me (with boomy bass or harsh highs) and when I dig into a melody note it produces a lovely expressive thick jammy tone. I think I will be pluggin in at home for my own pleasure now and not just in gigs to make myself audible. For the first time I feel the amp is part of my instrument.

    :

I don’t think my playing improved when I plugged in to one of these jazz guitar amps at the store. I now understand one difference between professional musicians and amateurs: gear. Even my poor, sloppy impression of Wes Montgomery sounded magical bursting through the JazzAmp. I don’t think it’s cheating to invest in a superb amp, I think it’s just being a perfectionist, like all musicians.

    :

Every jazz musician has their own particular style and sound, and these jazz guitar amps help bring that out. This thing offers a rich tone no matter where you set the dials. But the equalizer settings, not uncommon on amps, allow for a level of customization you wouldn’t expect from a 5-band. I feel like the JazzAmp helps me find my own sonic sweet spot.

For over two years I have owned both the JazzAmp 110 and The Blues Amp 10 with the Rajun Cajun speaker. Both amps are fantastic. They are light in weight and sound like tube amps. For jazz I play a custom made Mahagony Hollowbody Tele with one Benedetto pickup. The JazzAmp sounds great. The BluesAmp is phenomenal wth my Custom Hollowbody Swamp Ash Tele with Seymour Duncan Jazz in the Neck and Vintage Stack in the bridge. It responds beautifully to my pedalboard and is loud enough for any club I play. I highly recommend this product. For us “old” pros you can’t beat the ease that the carry bag and light weight provides. Saludos to a job well done

These jazz guitar amplifiers are among the best I’ve ever used. For portability, this is hands down the best amp I’ve ever used. For small to large venues, this delivers a warm and wide toned sound. This is an excellent quality for the price! Very glad I purchased this.

Yes, Yes, Yes!! My 30 Year Quest for Tone is finally over.
I have been searching for decades to find the sound in my head. This is it , a dream come true! This is a first for me, falling in love with an amplifier, it is dead sexy!!
It’s like the Whole Tone Scale; Tone, Tone,Tone, Tone,Tone,Tone!!! My Sadowsky sings with it!
Finally a word about service! The people at Henriksen have gone out of their way to meet my requests. I have not come across another company that delivers such excellent service!! Thank You again!!

I knew within the first two minutes this amp would do the job. Great jazz tone with minimal adjustments to the EQ. Works with my archtops (solid spruce and laminated tops), semi-hollow bodies, and even my Johnny A – which technically is an archtop but responds more like a chambered solid body. The JazzAmp-110 brings out each instrument’s unique voice.

This is my second 110, and I’m STILL lovin’ it! My first was a very early model. Used it everywhere from small clubs to the Kennedy Center. Now with more power and better reverb, the Jazz Amp just got even better. To my ears, it is the answer to the sterile, hi-fi sound of some SS amps, and the boxy nasalness of others… The EQ is the key. Allows you to dial in a natural sound in any room. Peter and I discussed some possible improvements (he’s always open to new ideas) that he was able to incorporate into my amp. Thanks a million, Peter!

The amp arrived safe and sound today – what can I say? After playing with it for just an hour, I feel like I have died and gone to heaven. The attention to detail is amazing. It’s a wonderful piece of machinery! My expectations were very high, and they’ve been exceeded many times. Thanks so much for shipping it out so promptly and carefully. I am sure I will be purchasing a gig bag for it in due course, but for now – many many thanks!

Hello, I bought a JazzAmp 310 about a month ago and love it. I don’t know how you do it but there is some magic in this amp. Well balanced sound, plug and play and it sounds good. Big sound even on the higher notes etc… Well done! You should make Henricksen stickers 🙂 Yvan Fortin (been playing jazz and acoustic guitar for 45 years)
